Hello John,

I bought the Eraserhead DVD from a shop called Fopp in the UK, that sell brand new cds, dvds and book cheaper than other stores. They went bust last year, but a few shops have come back to life.

I don't know if they sell things online, but here is their website. http://www.foppreturns.com/

If you meant the Black Audio Film Collective DVD, then I'm afraid I can't help you there as it was an exhibition about them at a gallery.

All the best,

Shawn

Think of all the glosses, remarks, and commentary in old volumes of mathematics, history, or science. Who wouldn't want to read Newton's or Darwin's margin notes? Who wouldn't enjoy Shaw's side-scribbles on someone else's play? I have a collection of essays heavily noted and scored by my father when he was in teacher's college - that's worth something to me, and not just for sentimental reasons.

For that matter, who wants blog posts without comments?

Shawn's post is relevant to a project I am currently working on in Sydney, Australia, which is still in formative stages. I began with the audacious title `Active Media Literacy Project' and began scanning the literature for possible tools young people could use to analyse aspects of the media, with a view to making public statements on media issues (making news about the news). However, as I have moved into the field and talked to young people I have started to think that it may be a mistake concentrating on the mass media alone. Young people are emersed in media which helps them project their interests, develop ideas and consolidate group identity through msn, blogs, texting. So now I am thinking that as this is the media that is within the realistic reach of `every child in Uk' that it might be best to start here - or at least include it somehow. The idea of media literacy must surely be the development of a mass critical literacy, so engaging with work in contexts where young people currently enjoy autonomy seems a good idea. I am thinking one point of overlap might be recent press coverage of cyber bullying. Any sources, press files on this appreciated.
